505 _aThis book is prepared in compliance with CMO No. 39, series of 2021 entitled "Policies, Standards and Guidelines on the Implementation of Tertiary Physical Education: PHYSICAL ACTIVITY TOWARDS HEALTH and FITNESS (PATH - FIT) COURSES." The major goal of physical education is fitness, that is, the individual can live a healthy, satisfying, and useful life (Andin, 2014). In order to do this, the individual hasthe right to choose what activity he/she will do. Studies would show that one of the most convenient, satisfying, and useful activities is through engaging oneself in combative sports and outdoor recreational activities. These activities will help individual understand self-defense and the importance of spending time with God-given nature. Today, with the new generation called Gen Z, these activities may not be sold to them because of the prevalence of the use of gadgets. Through this book, students will be able to appreciate the significance of combative sports and outdoor recreational games in attaininga quality of life thus being able to live a healthy, satisfying, and useful life. This book is created to complete the activities the students should have as stated in the CMO's. It provides information to all readers. As part of the PATH FIT curriculum, this book provides necessary concepts and skills needed in the attainment of quality life through undergoing the different activities in combative sports and choosing outdoor recreational activities appropriate to each student. Topics are presented in the following order: Chapter 1- Arnis, Chapter 2 - Taekwondo, and Chapter 3 -Outdoor Recreation Activities -Mountaineering, Hiking and Trekking, Camping and Orienteering. Considering the topics presented herewith, the authors believed that this book will be of great help to everyone who has passion in combative sports and outdoor recreational activities.
_rMARY GRACE M. BULATAO finished her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) major in EducationalManagement at Saint Mary's University as LIKHA Awardee in 2010, Master in Physical Education & Sports (MPES) ni 2002 at Pamantasang Lungsod ng Maynila National College of Physical Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education major ni Physical Education, Health and Music (PEHM) and minor ni Library Science ni 1994 at Saint Mary's University. She is a member of CHEDRegion 2 Regional Quality Assurance Team (RQAT) in the field of Physical Education. A researcher, book writer and a consistent recipient of the Outstanding Employee award of Saint Mary's University. She is presently the Department Head of the Physical Education Department, University Sports Coordinator and a full time professor of the School of Teachers Education and School of Graduate Studiesof Saint Mary's University Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines. GINNA .T ASTILLERO, EdD is a graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education major ni Physical Education, Health and Music (PEHM) as CUM LAUDE at University of Southern Mindanao- Kabacan, Cotabato, ni 1995. After her graduation, she was hired as an Instructor at Kabacan Technical School and given the chance to serve her Alma Mater (USM)in 1996. She successfully passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) ni the same year. nI March 2001, she completed and graduated Master of Arts ni Education (MAED) major in Educational Administration. In March 2010, she finished her Doctor of Education (EdD) Major in Educational Management. She also completed the academic units in Master o fArts in Education, Major in PhysicalEducation in 2009. She also earned 12 academic units in Doctor of Physical Education (DE) at Southwestern University, Visayas. She was hired as Full-Time Faculty at Notre Dame University (NDU) teaching both Physical Education and Professional Education subjects in 1997. She is also a Graduate School professor in same institution. In 2015, she was designated as the Program Head of Professional Education/PhysicalEducation in the College of Education, Notre Dame University (NDU). She conducted and presented several researches in Research Fora in both local and regional level. Some of her studies were published in the Book of Abstracts both ni PATE and PAGE. Currently, she is working on her Discipline-Based researches to be published in Multidisciplinary International Journals. NIMFA F. BUEDRON finished her Doctor of Education in Physical Education (EDD-PE) at Southwestern University (2016), Master of Arts ni Education- Physical Education (MAED-PE) at University of Eastern Philippines (2011), Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education (BSAED) at Benguet State University (1991), Certificate of Physical Education (CPE) at Benguet State University (1998). She is a lifetime member of the Philippine Folk Dance Society. She currentlycompleted the AACCUPTraining for SUC Accreditors. She is presently the Chair of the Physical Education Department of the College of Arts and Communication and the Program Coordinator of the Graduate School at the UniversityofEastern Philippines, Catarman Northern Samar. RONDA LUBONG NAVALTA is the pioneer graduate of M A d - Major in Physical Education at Saint Mary's University in 2010. She took her academic masteral units at PLM-NCPE in 2001-2004. She finished her Bachelors degree in Secondary Education major in PEHM and Minor in Home Economics at Saint Mary's University in 1996. With her passion in sports, she was appointed as the Coordinator in Sports Development Program of Saint Mary's University from 2012 - 2018. At present she is a full time faculty member of the SchoolofTeacher Education and Humanities and t h eGraduate Schoolat SMU.
