520 _aWHOSE BIRTH CENTENNIAL WE COMMEMORATE, WAS A Van of many parts. Recognized as teacher, constitutionalist, international law expert, diplomat, administrator, banker and public servant, he is, however, best known and well remembered as a law teacher. His teaching career began soon after he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Silliman and came to Manila to seek employment. He became an instructor of English, government, economics and sociology, supporting himself as he pursued the study of law in this University, where he obtained the Bachelor of Laws degree and, later, an LL.M. He practiced law before he joined the faculty of this college as associate professor and taught here from 1925 to 1942. In 1936, he had a stint as visiting professor at the Tokyo Imperial University and Waseda University. The Pacific War interrupted his law teaching, and its aftermath involved him in government service outside the University. Not until 1953 did he return to the academe, still handling some courses, al- though other concerns took him out of the classroom into wider fields. There is a commonly expressed view that there is nothing like teaching a subject to become thoroughly familiar with it. In the case of Dr. Sinco his mastery of the courses he taught—namely, English, government, economics and sociology-is easily discerned in his writ- ings and his responses to issues related to the responsibilities of his multifaceted career.
