Project Feasibility (BS Industrial Engineering)--Foundation University, 2023.
This study explores the possibility of creating furniture using rice husk particle boards in the Dumaguete area. The researchers employed stratified sampling to gather data from 395 households earning around 20,000 a month. Remarkably, 94% of respondents expressed interest in trying furniture made from rice husk particle boards, and 91% indicated a preference for purchasing such items. Based on these findings, the researchers decided to produce two types of furniture, specifically Cabinet and computer tables, aligning with the identified demand from interviews. After a comprehensive analysis, the study determined the feasibility of the business venture in the target market. The financial metrics indicate a net present value of 19,538,041.04, an internal rate of return of 3%, a benefit-cost ratio of 3.55, and a payback period of 2.04 years. These positive outcomes suggest that producing furniture from rice husk particle boards is a viable and potentially lucrative business in the Dumaguete area, given the strong interest and demand observed among the target households.
