Preface
This book is a product of more than a decade of teaching introduction to criminology at PHINMA Cagayan de Oro College.
The content is organized in such a way that the criminology concepts are understood in a straightforward manner by students and with the use of an outcome-based education.The simplicity in form is supported by series of activities to clarify concepts. This is evident in the entire part of thebook.Basic terms and concepts in criminology are presented with some definitions and examples.
Chapter 1P resents the historical evolution in the study of criminology,and
Chapter 2 follows with developing criminological theory. This identifies and evaluates the importance of a theory in criminology.
Chapter 3 describes the basics in criminological research.
Chapter 4 describes crime, law,and criminal behavior, and
Chapter 5 follows with measuring crime.
Chapter 6
examines victims and offenders,and
Chapter 7
features on punishment,sentencing,and rehabilitation.
Chapter 8th siders the criminology and criminal justice in the Philippines,and lastly,
Chapter 9 features the criminology profession in the Philippines with emphasis on the new law, Republic Act No. 11131.
