"This study aims to assess the functionality of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan and its impact on selected municipalities of Negros Oriental. The study made use of the descriptive-correlational research design. The questionnaire covered the four thematic areas of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan, namely: prevention and mitigation, preparedness, response, and rehabilitation and recovery. The respondents of the study were the 130 local DRRM council members and 130 selected community members. The study utilized weighted mean, Pearson r, t-test, and ANOVA. The salient findings revealed that the DRRM council perceived the extent of functionality of the DRRMP to be "very high" while the community members perceived it to be only as "high." The community members also rated the extent of impact of the DRRMP on the municipalities to be "high." A significant relationship was found between the extent of functionality of the DRRMP and its impact on the municipality. Municipality's income and the DRRM council members and the community members as to the functionality of the DRRMP. The profile of the DRRM council members in terms of age, relevant trainings and experience as DRRM member could account tp the differences in their perceptions. As a result of the study, an action plan was recommended for implementation to enhance the functionality of the DRRM." -- Abstract
