This book is prepared in compliance with CMO No. 39 & 40, series of 2021 entitled "Policies, Standards and Guidelines on the Implementation of Tertiary Physical Education: PHYSICAL ACTIVITY TOWARDS HEALTH and FITNESS (PATH - FIT) COURSES" The major goal of physical education is Fitness, that is, the individual can live a healthy, satisfying and useful life (Andin, 2014). In order to do this, theindividual has the right to choose what activity he/she will do. Studies would show that one of the most convenient, satisfying and useful activities is through engaging oneself in DANCE.
Dance, whatever genre it is plays a very important role in everyone's lives. History would speak the importance of dance to our ancestors in the form of rituals, festivities or any gatherings that convene them as one.
Today, with the new generation called GenZ, dance still evolves as part of socialization, it brings joy, happiness, and togetherness. Indeed, the importance of dance in the lives of everyone in unfathomable.
This book is created to sustain and continually ignite the heart of everyone to always be abreast about their chosen dance genre. It provides information to all readers. As part of the PATH FIT curriculum, this book provides necessary concepts and skills needed in the performance of the different dances. Topics are presented in the following order: Chapter 1- Folk Dance, Chapter 2 -Cheer Dance, Chapter3-Contemporary Dances, Chapter 4- Street Dance and Hip-Hop, and Chapter 5 - Social Dances. Considering the topics presented herewith, the authors believed that this book will be of great help to everyone who has passion in dance. MARY GRACE M. BULATAO finished her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) major in Educational Management at Saint Mary's University as Likha Awardee in 2010, Master in Physical Education and Sports (MPES) in 2002 at Pamantasang Lungsod ng Maynila National College of Physical Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education major in PhysicalEducation, Health and Music (PEHM)and minor in Library Science in 1994 atSaint Mary's University. She is a member of CHED Region 2 Regional Quality Assurance Team (RQAT) in the Field of Physical Education. Aresearcher and book writer. She is presently the Department Head of thePhysical Education Department anda fulltime professor of the School of Teacher Education and Humanities and the School of Graduate Studieso f Saint Mary's University Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.
GINNA T. ASTILLERO, EdD is a graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Physical Education, Health and Music (PEHM) as CUM LAUDE at Universityof Southern Mindanao- Kabacan, Cotabato, ni the year 1995. After her graduation, she was hiredas an Instructor at Kabacan Technical Schooland given t h echance to serve h e rAlma Mater (USM) in 1996. She successfully passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) in the same year. In March 2001, she completed and graduated Masterof Arts in Education (MAED)major ni Educational Administration. nI March 2010, she finished her Doctor of Education (Ed) Major in Educational Management. She also completed the academic unitsin Master of Arts in Education, Major in Physical Education in 2009. She also earned 12 academic unitsin Doctor of Physical Education(DPE) at Southwestern University, Visayas. She was hired as Full-Time Faculty at Notre Dame University (NDU) teaching both Physical Education and Professional Education subjects in 1997. She is also a Graduate School professor in same institution. In 2015, she was designated as the Program Head of ProfessionalEducation/Physical Education in the College of Education, Notre Dame University (NDU). She conducted and presented several researches in Research Fora in both local andregional level. Some of herstudies were published in the Book o fAbstracts both in PATE and PAGE.Currently, she is workingon her Discipline-Based researchesto be published in Multidisciplinary International Journals.
NIMFA F. BUEDRON finished her Doctor of Education in Physical Education (EDD-PE) at SouthwesternUniversity (2016), Masterof Arts in Education- Physical Education (MAED-PE) at University of Eastern Philippines (2011), Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education (BSAED) at Benguet State University (1991), Certificate of Physical Education (CPE) at Benguet State University (1998). She is a lifetime member ofthe Philippine Folk DanceSociety. Shecurrently completed the AACCUP Training forSUCAccreditors. She si presently the Chair of the Physical Education Department ofthe College ofArts and Communicationand the Program Coordinator of the Graduate School at the University of Eastern Philippines, Catarman Northern Samar.
CHRISTINE JOY C. MUNZON- LUNA, was born on December 22, 1995. She graduated at Cagayan State University- Carig Campus with a degree of Bachelor of Physical Education Major in School Physical Education. She earned a Master of Science ni Teaching with a major in Physical Education from St. Paul University Philippines,Tuguegarao. She teaches physical education ni the University of Cagayan Valley's School of Liberal Arts and Teacher Education.
