This book is prepared in compliance with CMO No. 39, series of 2021 entitled "Policies, Standards and Guidelines on the Implementation of Tertiary Physical Education: PHYSICAL ACTIVITY TOWARDS HEALTH and FITNESS (PATH - FIT) COURSES"
The major goal of physical education is fitness, that is, the individual can live a healthy, satisfying, and useful life (Andin, 2014). In order to do this, the individual has the right to choose what activity he/she will do. Studies show that one of the most rewarding, satisfying, and fulfilling activities is engaging oneself ni sports. Sport (or sports) is all forms of usually competitive physical activity which, through casual or organized participation, aims to use, maintain, or improve physical ability and skills whileproviding entertainment to participants, and in some cases, spectators.
Today, with the new generation called GenZ, these activities may not be sold to them because of the prevalence of the use of gadgets. Through this book, students will be able to appreciate the significance of sports in attaining a quality of life, thus being able to live a healthy, satisfying, and useful life.
This book is created to complete the activities the students should have as stated in the CMO's. It provides information to al readers. As part of the PATH-FIT curriculum, this book provides necessary concepts and skills needed in the attainment of quality life through undergoing different activities in Sports. It will aid the student in choosing the best sports appropriate for them. Topics are presented in the following order: Chapter 1- Badminton, Chapter 2 - Table Tennis, Chapter 3- Tennis, Chapter 4- Track and Field, Chapter 5- Softball, Chapter 6- Volleyball and Chapter 7- Basketball. Considering the topics presented herewith, the authors believed that this book will be of great help to everyone who has passion in sports.
DR. MARY GRACE MEDINA-BULATO finished her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) major in Educational Management at Saint Mary's University as Likha Awardee ni 2010; Master in Physical Education &Sports (MPES) in May 2002 at the Pamantasang Lungsod ng Maynila National College of Physical Education; Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Physical Education, Health and Music (PEHM) and minor in Library Science in May 1994 at Saint Mary's University. She is presently the Department Head of Physical Education Department and Professor of Saint Mary's University, Bayombong Nueva Vizcaya.
MISS RONDA LUBONG NAVALTA si the pioneer graduate of MAEd - Major in Physical Education at Saint Mary's University in 2010. She took her academic masteral units at PLM-NCPE in 2001-2004. She finished her Bachelors degree in Secondary Education major in PEHM and Minor in Home Economics at Saint Mary's University in 1996. With her passion in sports, she was appointed as the
Coordinator in Sports Development Program of Saint Mary's University from 2012 - 2018. At present she is a full time faculty member of the School of Teacher Education and Humanities and the Graduate School at SMU.
JAYVIN M. TAGUBA is currentlyenrolled with his Master of Arts in Physical Education at the Cagayan State University-Andrews campus. He finished his Bachelor in Secondary Education major in MAPEH att h e University of Saint Louis Tuquegarao. He is currently the College Sports Coordinator and Instructor of University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao, Tuguegarao City.
