ABSTRACT
Pedicab or tricycle is a major mode of transporting passengers within the
vicinity of Dumaguete City. Seemingly, pedicab driving has been considered by
pedicab drivers as a green job for them because this type of job provides income
to support their families. However, pedicab are increasing in number, alongside,
problem arise.
Thus, this study was conducted to describe the status of pedicab drivers of
Dumaguete City as a growing working force in Dumaguete City. Included in this
study are the Age, civil status, number of dependent family, and savings per day
of the pedicab drivers
This study made use of descriptive research method using a questionnaire as
the main instrument. There are 2500 of the registered pedicab and 344 drivers
were considered as respondents. Frequency, percentage and total weighted
mean were employed to make the data meaningful. Findings of the study
disclosed that all of the respondents are male, majority at age of 31 to 38 and
most of them are married.
Almost all of the respondents have 4 dependents of the family, and most of
the respondents are high school graduate. Generally, they are driving full time and
most of all the pedicab drivers do not own the pedicab they are using. However,
majority of them claimed that they are in good health; otherwise, they'll encounter
illness once in a month.
