ABSTRACT
There is tough competition in the market even with our agricultural products. There are many
factors that have caused this however, we can always adapt to the business world. Based on
the data gathered by the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics, there is an increasing production of
cassava in our province, Negros Orięntal. It may be increasing but it comprises only a little of
the total production of cassava in the country. Cassava which is a shrubby, tropical, perennial
plant thrives even in poor soils and is commonly eaten by natives as a rice substitute. It has
been known that cassava is now used to produce flour, and other products that cost much in
the market. With this, a Cassava plantation and assembler to be put up in Sitio Bunsud,
Barangay Obat, Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental can help other farmers at the same time
increase cassava production in the province. In order to ensure good quality of cassava
produced, the owner will collaborate with San Miguel Corporation which has studied and has
experts on cassava production. There will be a contract between the owner and San Miguel
Corporation which states that the owner will only sell the cassava produced to SMC alone and
SMC will help ensure the quality of the cassava and will buy all granulated cassava. After testing
the financial assumptions, I have found out that putting up this Cassava plantation and
Assembler is feasible in the area proposed. It is feasible in all aspects but there is a need to seek
other buyers that may probably purchase the cassava if the contract ends or other the rejected
cassava. Also, since it is only the contract that binds the network, it is also very important to the
farmers involved o fully understand everything that is stated in the contract. The owner should
seek legal advice from Atty. Montenegro, especially in drafting the contract. An instrument to
measure the moisture content of the cassava will also be a big help because it will aid us in determining and maintaining the quality of the cassava granules to sell. A Cassava plantation and Assembler at Sitio Bunsud, Barangay Obat, Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental is therefore
feasible in all aspects such as marketing, management, financial, technical and socio-economic.
