Abstract, Summary, etc. " A descriptive-correlational undergraduate research study sought to determine the factors and level of compliance to the therapeutic regimen of individuals age 20 years old and above with hypertension in Dumaguete City. Convenience sampling method was used and self-administered questionnaires were used to gather data. A sample of 200 respondents qualified for the study composed of 50 males and 50 females, majority are married (58%), the most are aged 51-60 year old (30%), had high school level of education (42%) and monthly income of less than Php 5, 000 (34%). The respondents reported personal perception /experience as a very important factor to medication compliance, while spiritual/religion, cultural, and health as important factors, and financial/social as sometimes important. Majority of the respondents are compliant based on the Hill-Bone Medication Adherence Scale. Pearson r correlations revealed significant reveals significant relationship between the level of compliance and the 5 factors. <br/>The strength of relationship is moderate for personal perception/experience, financial/social, and health factors. On the other hand, it is weak for spiritual/religion and cultural factors. The findings imply that respondents who manifest better attitude considering the 5 factors tend to comply with the therapeutic regimen. The study highlights the significant factors influencing the compliance to medication among hypertensive individuals: personal perception/experience, financial/social, health, spiritual/religion/ and cultural factors. Emphasizing on personal perceptions and experiences, hypertensive individuals should remain compliant with their therapeutic regimen in order to maintain health.
