Abstract, Summary, etc. "This study was conducted to examine the effectivity of localized apparatus in the less explored field of biology. This aimed to determine the effectiveness of localized apparatus and computer-based interactive simulations in teaching diffusion and osmosis. It was also intended to measure the extent of conceptual understanding of the learners on the said topics. The respondents of the study were the 74 Grade 12 STEM students of Foundation Preparatory Academy, 32 of whom were from STEM 12.1 and 42 were from STEM 12.2 The researcher utilized the descriptive design of the study. A validated test paper and validated activity sheets that contain questions that measured conceptual understanding and a self-made rubric were used in assessing the students' performance. The statistical tools employed included mean, t-test for dependent data, and t-test for independent data. The results indicated that there was an increase in performance after the learners engaged in the experiments using localized apparatus and interactive simulations. Furthermore, the extent of conceptual understanding of the two groups of students in osmosis was generally high and very high for diffusion. The study revealed that localized apparatus and interactive simulations are both effective in teaching diffusion and osmosis." --Abstract
