Abstract, Summary, etc. "This study aimed to analyze errors of subject-verb agreement in students' written composition in English. The qualitative and quantitative approaches of research were utilized. The respondents of this study were the 31 selected Grade 9 students of Nagbalaye High School of Sta. Catalina District II, Division of Negros Oriental. Written essays of the participants were analyzed by the researcher with the help two other grammar experts from other schools. Students' written composition were examined in terms of the errors they have committed in subject-verb agreement of person, subject-verb agreement in number, subject-verb agreement of coordinated subject and subject-verb agreement of notional proximity. Results showed that 70.97% of students committing omission error, 67.74% students committing addition and misinformation errors and 61.29% of students committing misordering. The overall frequency of errors committed by the students in subject-verb agreement was "moderately extensive." Moreover, the mean frequency of errors in subject-verb agreement of person, of numbers, of coordinated subject and of notional agreement and proximity were 2.15, 2.12, 1.00 and 1.00 respectively. The result also showed that there is no significant difference between the mean errors of the two groups (students with an English final grade of 86% and above and students with an English final grade of 85% and below). It showed that regardless of the students' grade in English in the previous year, all students have committed the same errors." --Abstract
