This volume originates from lectures of Solid-State Electronics and Microelectronics that have been given since 1978 at the School of Engineering of the University of Bologna. Its scope is to provide the elementary principles of classical mechanics and electromagnetism, introduce the concepts of quantum mechanics and solid-state theory, and decribe the basic physics of semiconductors including the hierarchy of transport models, and ending up with the standard mathematical model of semicoductor devices and the analysis of the ehavior of basic devices--Preface, page vii. |
