Abstract<br/>This study assessed the level of teachers' awareness of the Child Protection Policy<br/>(CPP) and their responsiveness in implementing its provisions in public secondary<br/>schools in Sibulan, Negros Oriental. A descriptive-correlational design was employed,<br/>with 147 teachers and 1,470 students selected through simple random sampling. Data<br/>were gathered through structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive<br/>statistics, Spearman's rank-order correlation, and the Mann-Whitney U test. Results<br/>showed that 71.43% of teachers had encountered at least one child protection case in<br/>the past five years, with bullying being the most frequently reported issue. Teachers<br/>demonstrated Very High awareness of the CPP and rated their responsiveness acroSs<br/>prevention, intervention, and disciplinary measures as Very High. Students similarly<br/>rated their teachers' responsiveness as Very High, although slight perceptual gaps<br/>were noted. Statistical analysis confirmeda significant positive correlation between<br/>awareness and responsiveness, indicating that greater knowledge of CPP provisions is<br/>associated with stronger child protection practices. While CPP implementation<br/>appears strong, the persistence of bullying cases highlights the need for ongoing<br/>training, systematic reporting improvements, and stronger support mechanisms to<br/>ensure the full realization of a safe learning environment.<br/>Keywords: advocacy programs, child protection issues, child protection policy,<br/>disciplinary measures, teachers' awareness, teachers' responsiveness |
