| Abstract, Summary, etc. | Abstract<br/>This study explored the impact of so cial media-induced Fear of Missing Out<br/>(FoMO) on the academic study habits of nursing students at Foun dation University.<br/>Guided by the Self-Determination Theory, Temporal Motivation Theory, and Health<br/>Promotion Model, the research used a quantitative, descriptive-correlational design.<br/>A total of 286 first to third-year nursing students were selected through stratified<br/>random sampling. Data were collected using two standardized instruments which are<br/>the State FoMO Inventory and the Academic Study Habits Questionnaire. Spearman's<br/>rank correlation (a = 0.05) revealed a significant negatíve relationship between<br/>SFoMO and overall academic study habits (rs = -0.204, p < 0.001). Further analysis<br/>showed that SFoMO was significantly associated with weaker habits in assignment<br/>completion and reading discipline (rs = -0.165, p = 0.005), class preparation and<br/>participation (rs = -0.275, p<0.001), and response to academic distractions (rs = -<br/>0.120, p = 0.043). However, no significant relationship was found between SFoMO<br/>and study planning and time management (rs = 0.089, p = 0.134). Additionally, results<br/>indicated no significant correlation between SFoMO and students' age or year level,<br/>suggesting that FoMO cuts across demographic categories and is more reflective of<br/>general patterns of social media use. These findings highlight SFoMO as a disruptive<br/>factor in nursing students' academic habits, especially in areas needing discipline and<br/>consistency. The study recommends digital wellness efforts and academic support to<br/>reduce SFoMO's negative impact and improve study habits.<br/>Keywords: SFoM0, study habits, nursing students, academic performance,<br/>digital distraction. |
