Abstract, Summary, etc. ABSTRACT<br/>Numerous studies have explored the challenges nurses face in various<br/>clinical settings. However, there has been a noticeable gap in research focused<br/>specifically on bedside nurses assigned to surgery wards in Dumaguete City, despite<br/>the demanding and often overlooked nature of this role. These nurses are routinely<br/>exposed to emotionally taxing environments, unpredictable schedules, and<br/>institutional constraints that significantly affect their professional and personal<br/>well-being, As student nurses, the researchers were deeply moved by their own<br/>clinical exposure to the hardships faced by these nurses, witnessing first-hand the<br/>toll of long hours, limited staffing, and overwhelming workloads, This motivated<br/>them to understand more deeply the lived experiences of bedside nurses, and to<br/>highlight their stories in a way that could promote better awareness, appreciation,<br/>and support for their profession. The central question guiding the study was: "What<br/>are the lived experiences of bedside nurses working in surgery wards in Dumaguete<br/>City?" To ensure a structured and In-depth interpretation of the participants'<br/>narratives, the study employed a descriptive qualitative design, guided by Colalzzi's<br/>method (1978). Through in-depth, semi-structured interviews with four bedside<br/>nurses, the researchers uncovered layers of emotional, physical, and professional<br/>challenges shaped by the complex realities of hospital care.<br/>Keywords: bedside nurse, lived experiences, surgical wards
