EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Foundation University was never late in terms of innovative technologies
for teaching and facilities since it was established on July 4, 1949 by Dr. Vicent
Guzman Sinco, a known educator and legal luminary during his time. For the
past years Foundation University followed the traditional way of paying tuition
fees and other fees in the BFO. Students fall in line to pay their fees such as
tuition, lnc's completion, enrollment fees, and other fees. In this way it is time
consuming some students tend to be absent from their classes just to line up in
BFO to pay. Aside from this problem, student experience loss of receipt which
enables them not to take the exam. Some students spend the money intended
for tuition but they spend it for unnecessary things for their own good.
The System provides cashless and paperless transactions in the Business
and Finance Office (BFO) and it reduces the need for handling of cash, it also
eliminates management issues that accompany cash handling. It is also hassle
free for the students in queuing up for paying fees it is because the system is
available 24 hours a day. Students have the assurance and securities for
keeping their money into account.
The goal of this study is to turn the students ID card into more than just a
form of identification, and logging in/out the campus. Instead of using credit cards, check and money for the common medium for paying fees, the students
can use their ID which functions like a debit card. They just have to swipe their
ID's to pay fees for having two securities the RFID reader and barcode reader for
verifying the students ID and fingerprint reader for registration of the student
fingerprint and for verifying the students fingerprint. Debit UID card sought to
bring convenience and function in the campus with Debit UID card that would
met students need. The students ID functions would include the ability to
purchase goods at the cafeteria, printing in the IT laboratory, paying fines in the
library and paying fees at the Business and Finance Office.
If the Debit UID card is to be implemented, it minimizes some problems of
students in paying their fees. The students can ensure that their money is safe
for they won't anymore bring money in paying their fees at the BFO they just
have to load ID with their account in the SG bank and use it for paying tuition
fees for exam and other fees involving the BFO.
The Debit UID Card System is using java as its core programming language.
It is also using extensions or features such as jar files to beautify the appearance
and outputs of the system. Speech, themes, and Calendar picker features are
example of those jar files which is applied in the system. In order to utilize and
dynamically use java programming language the researcher s are using
netbeans application. The system is also using the SDK for the fingerprint reader
to run not like the jar files the SDK has to be installed into the computer. The
researchers are also using wamp server in order the system to be able to connect it into the database which is the mysal. The devices that the researchers
are using are the barcode reader and the fingerprint for security purposes. The
fingerprint reader is used for verification and registration of student's fingerprint,
while the barcode reader is for verification of the student's identification card.
