The study sought to determine the buying behavior of parents of kindergarten students in the public elementary schools towards choosing snacks for their students using survey questioners.
From the survey conducted, findings revealed that the majority of the respondents earn within the minimum wage. More than half of the respondents spent Php 20.00-Php30.00 a day for the snacks of their kindergarten students. More than half of the respondents provided ready made snacks to their children. Majority of the respondents saw that, giving homemade snacks to their children would help lessen the risk of their children experiencing food allergies or food poisoning and can assure that what their children or students eat is healthy.
Majority of the respondents were being price conscious but would not compromise the health or well-being of their children.
From the survey findings conducted, the researchers concluded that the respondents prefer a snack that is budget-friendly, had been tested by others, and most importantly, should be safe an healthy to eat. Respondents were price conscious but mades sure that the health of their students are not put in line.
The researchers would like to recommend the parent-teachers association of each kindergarten school to at least have one day in a week where healthy snacks are given to the students and are prepared by the parent officers. It is also recommended the parents to always check the labels and ingredients on snacks they either prepare or purchase for their kindergarten students since the study shows that the majority of the respondents focused on the health benefits the snacks provides.
