"Every Filipino has the right to a kind of education that is accessible, relevant, and empowering. Every learner deserves to be supported until he or she has reached his or her maximum potential and has found his or her rightful place to participate actively in the society. Inspired by this lofty goal, we developed this book in our hopes of helping the government and civil society create a more inclusive culture in the school that not only accepts and understands but also knows exactly what to do with learners who have sensory and physical disabilities (LSPDs). Just like any other learner, LSPDs deserve to obtain an education that will transform their lives, maximize their capacities, harness their capabilities, and enable them as partners in nation-building.
We have designed this book to not only cater to the families but also to the educators as its primary readers and beneficiaries so that they can be made more aware and knowledgeable on how they can successfully rear and support these types of learners. After all, families, school, administrators, and teachers must work together until the goal for each learner has been achieved. We can always do something to lift up and help encourage those who have disabilities. This is a choice we ought to make as we strive to make our world more inclusive."--Back cover
