Living with Music, Art, PE, and Health (MAPEH) is a new high school series for Grades7-10. This K to12 compliant series was developed in accordance with the objectives and thrusts of the the Department of Education's new basic education program, which hopes to holistically develop learners with 21st century skills. Thus, content, assessment activities, approaches, and methodologies used in this series were carefully selected to address the demands and the challenges posed by the new curriculum.
The authors refer to the principles of teaching and learning as the underpinning guide in the development of each lesson. However, in the organization of contents, the series follows the 4 A's framework, which stands for Activity, Analysis, Abstraction, and Application. This instructional approach has been proven to be effective as evidenced by the results of learners' performance. It endeavors to create among learners better understanding through application of learning to real life situations, thereby allowing better appreciation of the irrelevance in their lives.
