The Geographic Information System plots the geographical location of students and provides interactive map to view the precise student population of an area. This study is conducted in the College of Computer Studies which acts as a shelter for students enrolled in the ITE programs. Based on the gathered data through observations and interview conducted by the researchers, there is a need to develop a system to determine the population of students for a specific location not only in the Province of Negros Oriental but also in the entire Philippines. The researchers use Union-Find Algorithm, which performs two useful operations in data structure that is to find students with the same location ID and combine them. On the other hand in developing the system, Rapid Prototyping Model is adopted, which follows the requirements that if one analysis is done and a design of prototype is made, development process gets started. In this system moderate errors should be assessed and detected early and properly as it may worsen to a more erroneous which may cause to the delay of the improvement, that is why Black box Testing is also adopted to check and figure out whether the system is improving or not.
Furthermore, access to the GIS allows the department head to monitor and determine the exact number of students coming from a certain place at the same time generate related reports.
Implementation of GIS helps in developing strategic plan for school campaign and other marketing activities to increase retention rate or else number of enrollees. This system serves as reference for further study to make the GIS more dynamic and informative.
