Criminal Procedure is the study of the process in prosecuting crimes in observance ofthe five pillars of the Criminal Justice System.It focuses on almost all pillars of the PhilippineCriminal Justice System,from Law Enforcement up to the Community.Court Testimonycomplements the study by elaborating on various integral provisions to be aptly consideredbefore,during, and even after examination of witnesses before the courts.
The manner of presentation of this work is not in accordance with the sequentialarrangement in the Rules of Criminal Procedure per se. Instead, it is presented in a step-by-step fashion,ranging from initial contact with the crime by the government,startingoff with Arrest and Search and Seizures up to appeal to the Supreme Court.Other relevantrules such as the Revised Guidelnes on Continuous Trial,Judicial Affidavit Rule,and Ruleson Summary Procedure are likewise incorporated in this work and blended with the latestjurisprudence.
While it is the laudable objective of every student to pass the licensure exam,thematerial also serves as a handy guide beyond their practice of the profession, especiallywhen called upon to assist in the effective administration of justice.
