English for cultural literacy, grade nine, is the response of FNB Educational, Inc. to the innovative approach to English teaching and learning in the grade nine level. The ECL Series revolves around the need to help the learners be aware of and demonstrate communicative competencies in English through their knowledge of the literature of the Philippines and of English and American literature and interaction with different text types for a deeper appreciation of our culture and the culture of the English and American people. In line with this aim, the varied lessons and activities used for classroom teaching to be included in the worktext should be aligned with the program, grade, content, and performance standards, as well as with the learning competencies set forth by the Department of Education in the K to 12 curriculum program guide.
