The curriculum guide for K to 12 of the Department of Education provides for the offering of research courses to both Grade 11 and Grade 12 senior high school students. Worktexts for both courses have been developed to address the need for students to study research.The worktext comprises lessons in Practical Research 1 and 2, anchored in the curriculum guide for K to 12 of the Department of Education. In both grade levels, the lessons provide opportunities for understanding basic concepts in research and for learning the ropes to conduct a research study. This explains why the materials here are arranged along two main components: conceptualization of the problem and methodologies to carry out the research. It must be noted that the lessons in these worktexts reflect an effort to integrate core values in education as well as the philosophy of developing the whole person.
