A FEASIBILITY STUDY ON WATERMELON RIND KIMCHI IN NEGROS
Abstract
This feasibility study evaluated the commercial potential of RinChiWatermelon Rind Kimchi,a health-oriented food product developed by PTSG Co.using repurposed watermelon rinds commonly treated as agricultural waste. The study aimed to determine the viability of launching RinChi in the Province of Negros Oriental by analyzing five major areas:marketing, technical, management, financial, and socio-economic aspects. Data were collected through printed surveys in Dumaguete City and online forms for respondents outside the area. Results showed a strong willingness among respondents to try and purchase the product, with many appreciating its health benefits,eco-friendly nature, and novelty.Financial projections suggested profitability at a manageable startup cost, while technical and operational plans proved practical for small-scale production. Based on the positive market reception, sound financial outlook, and alignment with sustainability goals, the study recommends the development and commercialization of RinChi, with minor adjustments based on consumer feedback.
