Summary: BUILDING AND ENHANCING NEW LITERACIES ACROSS THE NEW CURRICULUM is a resource instructional material that corresponds with the content of the PPST-based syllabus for the course as prescribed in the CMO 30-s.2017. This resource material consists of five chapters composed of lessons. Each lesson follows a distinct format represented by the acronym GEAR UP which means to prepare or equip oneself for something or to get ready. Thus, this material will equip the pre-service teachers with the fundamental concepts and principles in curriculum and curriculum development, to make them ready to become teachers who will be building and enhancing literacies. The parts of each lesson are: Get Started-introduces the lesson; Establish the Purpose-presents the expected learning outcomes; Activate Prior Knowledge-builds students' initial knowledge; Read and Engage with the Text-brings to light the reading texts; Upgrade your Skills - provides activities that enhance students' understanding of the text; and Ponder on Ideas Learned- encourages the students to reflect on the lesson learned. After having geared up with the lessons in this resource material, it is hoped that every pre-service teacher will be equipped and prepared in developing and strengthening new literacies among learners. -- Preface
