ABSTRACT
Extracurricular affiliations have been an important part of the education system. It
immerses the students in newW knowledge and experiences which are hard to attain in
the classroom setting. The trade-off between academic performance and joining
extracuricular affiliations has been a subject of interest for quite a time. This study
explored the demographic information of students involved in extracurricular affiliations
such as the course, GPA or academic performance, year level, socio-economic status
and their respective affiliations. This study also explored the relationship between the
students' academic performance to year level, socio-economic status and
extracurricular affiliations. Chi-square has been used to determine the significance of
these relationships. Students' perception on the effects of extracurricular afiliations was
quantified using weighted mean method. Findings from these tests provide an additional
insight for maxíimízing the benefits of extracurricular affliations and academic institution
to fully develop the potential of students.
